Deep Sea Fish Oil Supplements November 22, 2013

Posted by admin in : Business, health , comments closed

Did you know deep sea fish oil is the best known source for containing Omega 3 fatty acids? And the best fish oil is called pharmaceutical grade. This means it’s been purified and filtered so it is free of contaminants. Dr. Barry Sears, the inventor of the Zone Diet, recommends a fish oil supplement even for people who eat fish regularly.

As far as Omega 3 fatty acids, they are essential to the optimum function of the body. Your body can’t produce omega 3 fatty acids so you have to get it through your diet. Back in the old days, kids used to be given cod liver oil. Now there are many choices. The deep sea best fish oil supplement would be a pharmaceutical grade, either as a pill or liquid, which makes it very easy to add to your diet!

Why are Omega 3 fatty acids Important?

Omega 3 fatty acids help assist the body with many of it’s functions. Pharmaceutical grade deep sea fish oil can help your body rebuild cells and promotes healthy brain and cardiac function. They have also been shown to improve joint pain, especially pain related to arthritis. Scientific studies report Omega 3 fatty acids in the diet may even reduce heart disease and cancer risk over time, but the positive effects on your brain can happen in a only a few weeks!

Fifty percent of the brain’s weight comes from fat, with one-third being Omega 3 fats.

Since our bodies don’t make Omega 3, and since few of us eat enough fish, our best bet is to take a pharmaceutical deep sea fish oil supplement. In addition to the physical benefits, it can have positive mental benefits as well. Conditions like depression and attention deficit disorder have been shown to improve. Many people say their memory and ability to concentrate improves too.

One of the things you need to be concerned about is quality. Your best bet is to read the label thoroughly to make sure you’re getting pharmaceutical grade. The best deep sea fish oil, which contain the most Omega 3, come from the deep sea fish the Hoki. The Hoki is a deep water fish found off the coast of New Zealand. The Hoki is naturally very high in the two most important types of Omega 3′s: DHA and EPA.

Portable Massage Chairs November 21, 2013

Posted by admin in : health , comments closed

There is nothing quite like a professional massage to relax and invigorate both tired muscles and strained work environments. Aside from the cost, the toughest part of getting a professional massage is driving to the massage therapist and back again. Sometimes this can mean hours in heavy traffic which tends to defeat the purpose of the massage in the first place. Portable massage chairs, however, are changing all of that.

Massage therapists can now take their show on the road. With a portable massage chair they can setup shop almost anywhere. Shopping malls, grocery stores, the beach and just about any place where people gather are starting to become prime locations for massage therapists. Even forward looking corporations are getting into the act. They will hire massage therapists to come to their corporate offices, bring a portable massage chair with them and give employees massages right there in house.

It does not have any motors or vibrators or anything like that it simply provides a mobile platform for the massage therapist to do his or her job. The massage table that massage therapists will use at their own facility is large, heavy and definitely not portable. A portable massage chair allows the therapist to cover many of the same body areas as a full massage table without the heavy baggage.

A portable massage chair doesn’t even look like a chair. It looks more like exercise equipment or a stationary bike than a chair. It has a relatively small seat to sit on but the rest of the parts bear no resemblance to a conventional chair. When you sit in it the rest of the chair will be in front of you instead of behind you. You lean forward and support your upper body on a chest cushion and a padded ring to support your face and head.

There are kneepads below and on either side of the seat to support your lower body. To complete the support of your body there will be a cushion just ahead of the chest cushion for your arms and hands. All of these pads and cushions are held together by a metal structure, usually aluminum, to keep the chair light in weight.

Most portable massage chairs are highly adjustable so the massage therapist can adjust it for different ages and sizes of clients. Of course, all portable massage chairs fold up so you can either carry them or put them in a travel case with wheels. Most of them weigh no more than 6 to 7 kilograms so carrying one is rarely a problem.

Top 7 Considerations When Buying A Massage Chair November 21, 2013

Posted by admin in : Business, health , comments closed

This massage chair buying guide will cover the main factors to consider when looking to buy a massage chair. The first thing to consider is the back massage functions. In addition to back massage, what other massage functions does the chair offer and what adjustments are available? Then there’s comfort, the layers of padding, and ease of settings management. There are other features that high end chairs offer. It’s up to the buyer to know what’s important and what features are worth paying a premium price for.

We’re looking for the range of motion the chairs,Massage Chair Pad motor can offer. The most beneficial massage functions in the backrest are kneading, rolling, and tapping or percussion. Most massage chairs will offer all of these functions and high-end chairs offer a combination where any of these functions can be applied at the same time.

Air bags inflating and deflating creates the feeling of a massage therapists hands applying and releasing pressure on your body. The air massage function is usually found in high end massage chairs so don’t expect to find one if you are looking for a budget chair. It can also create the feeling of rolling along your muscles depending on the sequence of inflating and deflating of the air bags.

The third thing to look for is what adjustments are available. For shorter people, it’s important to be able to start the back massage lower than the standard starting position as it is too high and will begin at the head instead of upper back. Speed and intensity adjustments are important for a comfortable massage. Some high end chairs can automatically detect the user’s height and make width and height adjustments accordingly.

One of the biggest oversights in some massage chair design is comfort. The chair may be designed to give great massages but do not make great chairs just for sitting. Many people like to use their massage chairs are lounge chairs as well and the chairs need to at least have the proper padding to be comfortable.

It’s important that there are removable layers of padding. Removable padding allows you to increase the intensity of a massage or decreasing the intensity by adding more padding. Also, more padding means an increase in flexibility to suit a person’s lounging level of comfort.

When checking the controller of the massage chair, there should be a display that is easy to read and the buttons make it easy to use. The best displays are LCD screens that show what massages are set to be performed and what part of the body it is targeting.

The last thing to check for in a massage chair are the extra features that are not available in other models, brands, or just not typical of any massage chair. This can range from seat heaters, built in speakers or speaker hook up options as well as television or radio. These features tend to run up the price and are not critical but can be nice for some people.

Quit Smoking – The Power of Imagination November 4, 2013

Posted by admin in : health , comments closed

I have found that the problem that many people find when quitting smoking is that they underestimate the psychological addiction, which in my view tends to be around 90% of smoking addiction, and they overestimate the 10% addiction that is physical. The physical addiction to smoking tends to be short-lived because once a physical sensation has been registered and acknowledged by the conscious mind, it tends to disappear, like a puff of smoke – no pun intended there.

The psychological addiction to smoking is so powerful because it involves the power of the imagination, and the will is powerless against the imagination. In this short essay, it is my intention to help those who are really prepared and willing to quit smoking using the imagination.

The imagination is used in hypnosis and is a way to tap into the awesome power of the subconscious mind. Even the fact that the subconscious has an awesome power, is down to the imagination. In my (Zen) view, the imagination is the subconscious and the subconscious is the imagination – one and the same thing.

Without these two steps your intention to quit smoking may be designated to another failure.

Willingness:

It needs to be recognised that being willing to quit smoking and wanting to stop smoking isn’t quite the same. I have met so many people who have said to me, “Yes, I want to quit smoking” but then had to think more carefully when I have asked them if they are really willing to quit smoking.

Commitment:

Once you decide you are willing to quit smoking, there has to be commitment, and that commitment needs to be absolute and unconditional. Commitment needs to be like diving from a high diving board – one is not committed until one’s feet has left the board and one is hurtling towards the swimming pool below. There is no turning around in mid air, that is commitment.

Using the mind and imagination, imagine what such a commitment would be like. Imagine that the only thing that would change it would be something that was beyond your control like a sudden tornado or hurricane that would come along and blow your body back up to the diving board again. Highly unlikely, right?

Now imagine this… Your word to quit smoking is your word to yourself. In order for you to quit, nothing short of some highly unlikely event beyond your control, will thwart you from your commitment to better health and improved wealth that you will experience when you have quit smoking.

If you break this commitment, it is likely that you will spend the rest of your life quitting smoking. Just like Mark Twain humorously said, “Quitting smoking is easy, I’ve done it a thousand times!”

Quick Quit Smoking Tips To Help You Stop Smoking Now! – Nurse’s Guide November 4, 2013

Posted by admin in : health , comments closed

In the following article I’ll share some easy ways to quit smoking that are easy to use. Tips for when you’re getting ready to quit, tips for the day you quit and tips for not starting up after you’ve quit. These tips have worked for many former smokers.

Tips For Getting Ready To Quit Smoking

First of all, getting ready to quit is important. You should set a date, cigarette electronique for quitting. Make it a day when you’ll be busy and preferably in a situation where your hands will be busy. Find a friend who will quit along with you.

Pay attention to when you smoke. Determine or think about why you smoke. Figure out the situations in your daily routine that you do while smoking (such as drinking a cup of coffee or tea or driving your car, reading the daily newspaper, etc.)

Try to change your current smoking routine, for example put your cigarettes in a different place or smoke with the hand you don’t usually use. Try to smoke without doing anything else. Give some serious thought as to how you feel when you smoke. Smoke only in places you designate such as outdoors only.

When you feel the urge for a cigarette, wait a few minutes before you light up. Try to think of something you can do instead of smoking; for example chew gum, drink a glass of water or keep both of your hands busy on the computer or on a project. Buy only one pack of cigarettes at a time and switch to a brand of cigarettes you know you don’t like.

Tips for The Day You Quit Smoking
Get rid of all your cigarettes; if possible do it the night before. Get rid of all your ashtrays, matches, lighters or any other smoking paraphernalia.

Change your morning routine so you do things a different way. When you eat breakfast, sit in a different place at your table. Keep busy, keep busy, keep busy.

When you feel the urge to smoke, immediately do something else instead. Focus on at least one affirmation or positive thought that you’ve written down in advance to think about and repeat to yourself. Carry items with you at all times to put in your mouth, such as a piece of gum, a piece of hard candy, handful of nuts, banana, an orange or tangerine to peel or a toothpick.

Keep your hands busy. Use the computer, take up knitting or take up painting or any other hobby that will keep both hands working on something.

Make sure to reward yourself at the end of the day for not smoking. See a movie, go out to eat and enjoy a great salad or visit a non-smoking friend, for example.

Tips for Staying Smoke-Free

You shouldn’t worry if you’re sleepier or more short-tempered than you usually are because the feelings will pass. Try to exercise every day. Take a short or long walk when you feel the urge to smoke. Go to the club and work out, play tennis or golf or ride a bike.

When you visit in Paris, there are little beckoning bistros on almost every corner. These little places are comfortable and romantic. Couples lean together over coffee and treats, enjoying the intimate and romantic feelings from each other. The heart of these places are bistro tables that fit in the nooks and crannies. Health – Your Most Valuable Asset October 19, 2013

Posted by admin in : health , comments closed

Your health is undoubtedly your most valuable asset. So with that in mind how do you protect your health?

Yes you probably have health insurance to look after your health if you become ill and car insurance to take car of you should your health suffer as a result of a car accident. But isn’t that paying someone else to look after your health after things go wrong? A bit like closing the stable door after,   the horse has bolted? What are you doing, or, what should you be doing to look after your health right now?

Do you get regular health check ups? Do you exercise & eat all the right foods that are beneficial to your health? Do you use health care products such as health supplements? Do you smoke, drink or take drugs? Are you aware of how these habits affect your health?

I’m willing to bet that you make darn sure you look after your children’s health, making sure that they are not doing anything that is going to cause long term damage to their health? But who is watching your health? Who’s making sure you are not doing anything to damage your health?

Health is probably something we all take for granted & only realise how important our health is when we are ill or someone close to us is suffering from ill health. However if we all do nothing in regard to our health now, waiting until we begin to suffer from ill health & then trying to do something about it may be too late as we may have already done irreparable damage to our health. If you could do something now to prevent one of your assets diminishing, such as your bank balance, your home or your car would you? Yes of course you would, so what about your most valuable asset, your health?

Well it’s about time that someone took control of your health, and that someone is you! Take control of your health now and make sure that valuable asset, your health, is well and truly looked after. Here are some suggestions that might help you to look after your health:

Get regular health check ups. If you have a good health insurance these are probably insisted upon. After all we all give our cars regular “health” checks, isn’t our health more important than the health of our vehicles?

Make sure you eat a healthy diet. Even if you don’t need to loose weight the right diet can help to improve your health.

Take regular exercise. 30 minutes a day at least 5 days a week, even if it’s just a couple of 15 minute strolls, that’s not to great a chore to protect a valuable asset – your health.

How to Become a Home Health Care Nurse October 19, 2013

Posted by admin in : health , comments closed

Home health care is allowing the patient and their family to maintain dignity and independence. According to the National Association for Home Care, there are more than 7 million individuals in the United States in need of home health care nurse services because of acute illness, long term health problems, permanent disability or terminal illness.

Home Health Care Basics

Nurses practice in a number of venues: Hospital settings,  IRM cerebral  ursing homes, assisted living centers, and home health care. Home health care nursing is a growing phenomenon as more patients and their families desire to receive care in their homes. The history of home health care stems from Public Health Nursing where public health nurses made home visits to promote health education and provide treatment as part of community outreach programs.

Today academic programs train nurses in home care and agencies place home health care nurses with ailing individuals and their families depending on the nurse’s experience and qualifications. In many cases there is a shared relationship between the agency and the academic institution.

Many changes have taken place in the area of home health care. These include Medicare and Medicaid, and Long Term Care insurance reimbursement and documentation. It is important for the nurse and nursing agency to be aware of the many factors involved for these rules and regulations resulting from these organizations.

Population and demographic changes are taking place as well. Baby boomers approaching retirement and will present new challenges for the home health care industry. Technology and medical care in hospitals has lead to shorter inpatient stay and more at-home rehabilitation. Increases in medical outpatient procedures are also taking place with follow-up home care. This has resulted in the decrease of mortality rate from these technologies and medical care has lead to increases in morbidity and chronic illness that makes the need for home health care nursing a greater priority.

Home Health Care Nurse Job Description

Through an array of skills and experience, home health care nurses specialize in a wide range of treatments; emotional support, education of patients who are recovering from illnesses and injury for young children and adults, to women who have experienced recent childbirth, to the elderly who need palliative care for chronic illness.

A practicing nurse must have the skills to provide care in a unique setting such as someone’s home. The nurse is working with the patient and the family and must understand the communication skills for such dynamics. Rapport is evident in all nursing positions, but working in a patient’s own living space needs a different level of skill and understanding. There is autonomous decision making as the nurse is no longer working as a team with other nurses in a structured environment, but is now as a member of the “family” team. The host family has cultural values that are important and are different for every patient and must be treated with extreme sensitivity. Other skills include critical thinking, coordination, assessment, communication, and documentation.

Home health care nurses also specialize in the care of children with disabilities that requires additional skills such as patience and understanding of the needs of the family. Children are living with disabilities today that would have resulted in mortality just twenty years ago. Genetic disorders, congenital physical impairments, and injury are just a few.

Many families are familiar with managing the needs of the child, but still need expert care that only a home health care nurse can provide. It is important that a home health care nurse is aware of the expertise of the family about the child’s condition for proper care of the child. There are many complexities involved, but most important, a positive attitude and positive reinforcement is of utmost importance for the development of the child.

What to Look For in a Fitness Coach/Personal Trainer October 7, 2013

Posted by admin in : health , comments closed

Half way through my year at UAA studying the fine art of Personal Training, my instructor asked us to write a mission statement and define what a Personal Trainer should be. I was already in the business before enrolling in this class so I thought I knew everything…wrong! It was really hard to define myself; so I had to think outside the box and then it became clearer. Let me share with you what I would define as an exceptional Trainer.

There are about 10 main elements that make a Coach outstanding. I will list them and then try to elaborate on each.

The most important factor a Trainer , Personal Trainers  should possess is knowledge. Knowledge of the correct and safe exercises a client should be executing as well as sound nutritional advice. A knowledgeable Trainer should work with the population that she has expertise. A Trainer should be able to know the difference between “fads” and what really works.

\The Trainer should read and learn from creditable sources. She should know how to determine if an article is written by an educated individual or someone who is just trying to make a fast buck. A Trainer needs to be certified in her area of specialization.

The second element that I feel a Trainer needs to have is reliability. Reliable to me not only means that the Trainer will be where she’s suppose to be on time and ready for work, but also that what she says can be “taken to the bank”. Reliability and dependability are synonymous and should be equally important. The two words are interchangeable in the dictionary and another synonym is trustworthy. These are all qualities that I would look for if I were choosing a Personal Trainer.

When we mention trust we also bring up the issue of confidentiality. The relationship between a client and a Trainer should be along the same lines of Doctor/Patient relationship. More goes on between a Trainer and a client than just counting reps and changing weights. The Trainer is a helper and educator to the client. A helper is one who enables another to change. The Trainer’s role is very complex because she acts as a teacher, a coach, a counselor, and a supporter. Trainers need to be very aware of their limitations and must never exceed the confines of their own expertise.

A good Trainer needs to be a people person. A trainer is asked to work with a lot of different types of people and she has to know how to relate to a number of distinct types of personalities. If a Trainer is personable she will be considered pleasant and friendly and I believe those are valuable tools for a Trainer to possess. A trainer needs to be a good listener. It’s very important to listen to the client; don’t just assume that you know what she wants. It’s important for the trainer not just to listen…. but hear what the client is telling her.

A Trainer should be a role model. A Trainer should “practice what she preaches”. A Trainer should exercise and eat well. The Trainer should promote healthy eating habits. A Trainer should not just “talk the talk” but “walk the walk”.

A Trainer should consider safety above all else when setting up a program for a client. A Trainer needs to get medical history from his client and perform some basic fitness tests in order to set up a safe and effective training program.

A Trainer needs to be prompt and well organized. The Trainer needs to show the client how to keep accurate exercise logs to track fitness goals and strength gains.

A great Trainer will educate a client to become self-reliant. The Coach has done a great job when she can empower a client to go on alone. You need to ask a potential Trainer how long she thinks you will need to work with her. If she is unsure or says indefinitely, I would interview a few more Coaches and find one that wants to teach you how to workout on your own using your built in motivation.

A Quick Guide for Hiring a Personal Trainer October 7, 2013

Posted by admin in : health , comments closed

Hiring a personal trainer can be confusing and can also be a sizable investment. So, when looking to hire a personal trainer you’ll want to take the extra effort to make sure you ultimately hire one that is best suited for you and your specific goals.

Personal trainers come with a wide variety of skill sets, specialties, and experience. Just because someone is certified as a personal trainer doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re worth investing in.

As with any other profession, for every quality personal trainer in the industry there are a handful of others that simply don’t have what it takes to influence, instruct and motivate others.

I want to help simplify the process of hiring a personal trainer by giving you a quick guide with several tips that you can use to have complete confidence in knowing that you’ve hired the perfect personal trainer for you.

First, I want to point out something that often goes unnoticed…

Always remember that a personal trainer can only do so much for you.

If you aren’t willing to meet them halfway, and apply everything they teach you exactly as they teach it, you might as well save your money.

No matter how good a personal trainer is, they won’t be able to do for you what you aren’t willing to do for yourself.

What Do They Charge

If you do your due diligence in meeting with several different people you’ll see that the rate they charge can vary to a large degree.

Well known, reputable trainers can charge over $100 per hour for their services, while those with less experience may only charge $20 per hour. For the most part you will get what you pay for, but this isn’t always the case.

By using the tips shared throughout the rest of this article you may very well find a high quality trainer that won’t charge you an unrealistic fee. The trick is asking the right questions and knowing what to look for.

Regardless of what you decide to pay, make sure that you pick a trainer that you can afford for several months before committing to them. Having to stop working with them 2 weeks in because you overcommitted financially will be a waste for you and frustrating to your trainer.

Do They Include Nutrition Advice

Because it will be integral to their success and yours, most personal trainers offer some sort of nutrition advice with their services.

Although, there are trainers out there who strictly provide training regimens, so you’ll want to be sure that you ask if nutrition plans or dietary guidelines are included with their services before hiring a personal trainer.

The time you spend training at the gym each week will only account for a certain percentage of your ability to transform your body and achieve your goals. The truth is that the way you’re feeding your body the other 95% of your time spent away from the gym is what will have the greatest impact on your results.
